Abstract:
This introductory chapter covers the definition of financial economics. The chapter then discusses microeconomic theory: individuals, managers, and markets with respect to risk and uncertainty and economic decisions, as well as market failure and economic decisions. It explains financial economic theory: individuals, managers, and markets in the areas of financial decisions by individuals/households and firm managers, as well as financial markets, risk, and asset pricing. The chapter also covers the purpose of the book and provides an outline for the rest of the book.
