Abstract:
Green finance and banking involve all financing, investment, and lending that consider environmental effects and enhance environmental sustainability. Green finance and banking are critical in driving environmental sustainability and promoting inclusivity. The purpose of this chapter is to contribute to the understanding of how green finance and banking can be instrumental in advancing sustainability and inclusivity. Issues covered in this chapter include: green finance and its benefits; green banking and its importance; the history of green finance and banking; global trends in green finance and banking; the triple bottom line in banking; principles, policies, and practices of green banking; the concept of inclusive green finance; and the role of central banks in enhancing green finance and banking.
