Chapter 9 in A World of Meta-Organizations, 2026, pp 172-192 from Edward Elgar Publishing
Abstract:
This chapter explores how different forms of inter-organizational arrangements within the French women's cause field relate to organizational integration. By analysing informalized inter-organizational networks and various types of meta-organizations, it shows how integration depends on the type of activities performed (advocacy or service provision) and the type of relationship with public authorities (cooperative vs. confrontational). Organizational integration can range from loose, horizontal networks to strongly coordinated arrangements and can have different forms that respond to various political, ideological, and practical challenges.
