Knowledge innovation and scientific knowledge in SBIR firms

Albert N. Link

Chapter 5 in Creating Scientific Knowledge, 2026, pp 67-74 from Edward Elgar Publishing

Abstract: Chapter 5 explores the relationship between external knowledge innovation defined in terms of external agreements and external network relationships, and the creation of scientific knowledge. Scientific knowledge is again quantified in terms of the sales (i.e., commercialization) of a new product, process, or service based on information in the National Research Council's (NRC) database. This measure of commercialization is slightly different from the measure of commercialization in the AEGIS database due to survey question differences and purposes.
