Chapter 16 in The Elgar Companion to International Business and the Sustainable Development Goals, 2026, pp 340-354 from Edward Elgar Publishing
Abstract:
This chapter empirically investigates the impact of digital knowledge transfer (DKT) initiatives led by multinational enterprises (MNEs) on marginalised local communities in developing economies, focusing particularly on India. By assessing secondary data from press releases and news articles, the findings show how effective corporate social responsibility (CSR) initiatives help bridge the digital divide and align with SDG 4 (Quality Education) and SDG 8 (Decent Work and Economic Growth). Insights are provided on fostering community-centric DKT strategies to promote sustainable development.
