Abstract:
The active participation of consumers plays a crucial role in the integration of renewable energies into the power grid. By using flexible electricity tariffs, households can adapt their energy consumption to the fluctuating supply from renewable energy sources. This enables load shifting, in which consumption is shifted to times when electricity production from renewable energies is high. This decentralised energy management allows consumers to not only save costs, but also to contribute to the efficient use of renewable energies. This chapter describes a concept for an event-driven electricity tariff that offers an incentive for active load shifting. Germany is used as a case study in the context of current regulatory and technical conditions.
