Born digital after the pandemic: rethinking the logic and dynamic capabilities behind their strategies

Natalia Wojciechowska

Chapter 8 in The Twin Digital and Green Transition, 2026, pp 140-158 from Edward Elgar Publishing

Abstract: A digital and turbulent environment is not only a demanding but also a stimulating factor for companies today. Enterprises are driven to enhance their capabilities and adapt the decision logic so as to take advantage of the opportunities and make the most of their resources. Both of the research fields of dynamic capabilities and decision logic are under academic scrutiny separately and jointly, yet mostly with reference to born global companies. Literature suggests born digitals which are a unique type of born globals are underrepresented within these research areas. Thus, the objective of this chapter is to identify which types of decision logic were followed by a born-digital company in the RegTech industry, to identify which dynamic capabilities contributed to its internationalization and, finally, to determine how the company's learning capabilities evolve throughout its life cycle.
