Why we need real-world economics: an opening
Christian Aspalter
Chapter 1 in Quantum Economics, 2025, pp 2-15 from Edward Elgar Publishing
Abstract:
This chapter, on the one hand, provides the rationale for this book and, on the other, delves into the genesis of the book. In doing so, the author puts forward his core entanglement with Explanatory Austrian Economics. The presence of Moon economics in neoclassical economics has been addressed directly before by Ludwig von Mises, and the author of this book walks in the footsteps of Mises, forward into a yet more explanatory and fitting, updated theoretical world of economics. In this opening, the author connects to Friedrich von Wieser's theorem of internal powers (or inner powers), Kurt W. Rothschild's focus on power in economics, and Michel Foucault's power relations, as well as Adam Smith and Charles-Louis Montesquieu.
