From homo economicus to homo communicationis

Christian Aspalter

Chapter 3 in Quantum Economics, 2025, pp 29-38 from Edward Elgar Publishing

Abstract: The new quantum economics is set to replace the broken and outdated stream of neoclassical economics (most of its content and leading paradigms, at least). A core problem of neoclassical economics has been and is the notion of “homo economicus.” It is not supported by evidence from the real world, nor by economic research evidence. A number of Nobel Prize winners in economics (Kahneman, Tversky, etc.) have won their prize by proving the incorrectness of this very concept. This chapter delves into this conundrum and offers a clear and full solution in the form of a new theory of “homo communicationis.”
