The concept of power and economic energy
Christian Aspalter
Chapter 9 in Quantum Economics, 2025, pp 74-81 from Edward Elgar Publishing
Abstract:
The central mechanics of quantum economics can be described by the workings of accumulative forces of power (money, wealth, weapons, etc.), and the accumulative forces of power relations (authority exercised/accepted, submission granted/denied, logic and reasoning disseminated/accepted, etc.). Values in economics are a function of power, all of these powers. This chapter theorizes economic values as the outcome of stored, activated, and accumulated economic powers, or, in other words, economic energy. It is shown that (a) everything in economics comes from communication, and hence powers (now also referred to as economic energy) that are produced, reified, and fortified by all sorts of human communications, in tandem and over time, and (b) all the institutions and all the systems are built with them and through them (market institutions, financial institutions, government institutions, all of them).
