Abstract: This chapter introduces cities as complex socio-ecological systems whose resilience depends on the coordination of spatial, environmental and social domains. It positions urban green spaces as a strategic interface between governance, ecological functions and community life, demonstrating how they anchor adaptive capacity within everyday urban management. By outlining the role of urban infrastructure, environmental infrastructure and participatory governance, the chapter establishes the conceptual bridge between resilience theory and operational practice. It also clarifies key terminology and highlights how integrated planning, environmental management and multi-actor cooperation support long-term adaptation. The chapter concludes that resilient city management is inherently relational, requiring alignment across sectors and scales to sustain green infrastructure as a public good.
