Chapter 4 in Managing Urban Green Spaces for Resilience, 2026, pp 76-88 from Edward Elgar Publishing

Abstract: This chapter presents the methodological design and analytical framework underpinning the comparative study of Barcelona and Singapore. It explains the use of nine analytical categories grouped into institutional, spatial and dynamic dimensions, and shows how the 3P nexus structures the assessment of governance configurations, participation mechanisms and adaptive processes. Document analysis, interviews and triangulation are combined to reconstruct resilience models in both cities. The chapter emphasises reflexivity, contextual interpretation and iterative reasoning as essential to capturing the relational nature of resilience. It concludes by outlining how the analytical structure enables systematic comparison without reducing local complexity.
