Abstract: This study examines the issue of intertextuality in Erotokritos by Vitsentzos Kornaros, analyzing the various sources and literary encounters that shape the work. Through the presentation of the theoretical terms of intertextuality and influence, the relationship of the poem with the French model Paris et Vienne, the Italian Renaissance influences such as Ariosto, Petrarch, Dante, and the Latin sources are explored. Simultaneously, Kornaros’s the dialogue with the Greek tradition, the epic Digenes Akritas and contemporary Cretan works such as Erofili and The Shepherdess (Voskopoula) are examined. The aim of the study is to highlight how the poet, through the creative assimilation of disparate elements, achieves an original composition that combines the Renaissance spirit with Greek cultural identity.
