Abstract: The paper assesses the impact of the Uruguay Round Agreements on ESCWA countries' exports of manufactured products. The assessment is made with reference to the liberalization achievements in industrial countries, and explores the issue of whether the Round will provide exporters of manufactured products in the ESCWA region with more markets in industrial countries. The paper also reviews the main elements of the Uruguay Round Agreements that may have an impact on trade in manufactured products. A quantitative as well as qualitative assessment is provided.
