Abstract:
The Household Consumer Expenditure Surveys of the National Sample Survey (NSS) are the primary source of data on various indicators of level of living of different segments of the population at national and State levels. These are used for planning, policy formulation, decision support and as input for further statistical exercises by various Government organizations, academicians, researchers and scholars. The NSS 68th round survey, carried out during July 2011 - June 2012, was the ninth quinquennial survey in the series, covering subjects of (i) Household Consumer Expenditure and (ii) Employment and Unemployment.
