International Journal of Scientific Research in Science and Technology, 2025, vol. 12, issue 4, 865-871

Abstract: This study examines the placement trends of Computer Science Engineering (CSE) and Information Technology (IT) students across various engineering institutions in Tamil Nadu from 2015 to 2025 within the IT sector. Tamil Nadu is estimated to produce between 662,129 and 882,838 CSE and IT graduates, assuming that 30–40% of the total engineering graduates specialize in these fields each year. It is projected that 60,000 to 80,000 CSE and IT graduates secure employment annually, with around 40%– 60% placed through campus recruitment, resulting in an estimated 264,851 to 529,703 CSE and IT graduates placed from 2015 to 2025. In response to the challenges in placement due to skill gaps, this paper proposes a hybrid AI chatbot designed to assist CSE students with career path guidance and phishing attack detection. The chatbot leverages Natural Language Processing (NLP) and machine learning algorithms to offer personalized career recommendations and detect phishing threats, consisting of three modules: career guidance, phishing detection, and an user interface. Experimental results demonstrate the effectiveness of the chatbot in delivering accurate career advice and phishing detection, offering significant potential in aiding students with career decisions and safeguarding them from online threats. This analysis highlights the substantial number of IT-ready graduates from Tamil Nadu while emphasizing the need for better skill development programs to align students' capabilities with industry requirements.
