Abstract:
The Methyl-imidazolium based ionic liquid-[BIL]-mediated Knoevenagel condensation pathway has been developed for the first time by a consecutive reaction of rhodanine and aldehydes to afford biologically active 5-arylidene-rhodanine derivatives in excellent to promising yields at ambient temperature. The main advantage of this protocol are the ability to permit a wide range of functional groups, easy workup, short reaction times, high yields, solvent-free conditions and recyclability of the catalyst due to these application this protocol is environmentally benign.
