Keyword Mapping and Research Trends in Annals of Library and Information Studies (2000–2025)

Abstract: The present study examines keyword mapping and research trends in Annals of Library and Information Studies (ALIS) during the period 2000–2025. The objective of the study is to identify major research themes, emerging topics, author keyword patterns, and thematic evolution in the field of Library and Information Science (LIS). Bibliometric and content analysis methods were adopted for the study. Keywords from research articles published in ALIS were collected, classified, and analyzed using frequency distribution and thematic grouping. The findings reveal that traditional topics such as library automation, information retrieval, bibliometrics, and digital libraries dominated the early years, while recent years show increasing focus on artificial intelligence, data analytics, open access, research metrics, social media, and knowledge management. The study highlights the transformation of LIS research from conventional library practices to technology-oriented and interdisciplinary themes. The findings may help researchers, academicians, and policy makers understand the changing research landscape in LIS.
