Analytical and Numerical Investigation of Reflectivity of thin Plasma Layer in Radiation Dominant Regime

Nasreen Ansari and Krishna Kumar Soni

International Journal of Scientific Research in Science and Technology, 2026, vol. 13, issue 3, 1170-1177

Abstract: Relativistic plasma mirrors formed through intense laser–plasma interactions constitute a compelling mechanism for the frequency upshifting and pulse compression of the electromagnetic radiation. A comprehensive theoretical study of the reflection coefficient and transmission coefficient of a relativistically propagating thin plasma layer is presented by making use of Lorentz transformations and Maxwell's equations which contrast the system's behavior under normal versus oblique incidence of the wave. These theoretical findings elucidate the core mechanisms governing relativistic wave-plasma coupling, establishing the scaling laws necessary for the design of advanced plasma-mediated photonic systems and ultra-compact, high-frequency radiation sources operating in the radiation pressure dominant regime.
