Preprocessing Technique for Handling Environmental Variability in Vehicle Detection Model

International Journal of Scientific Research in Science and Technology, 2026, vol. 13, issue 4, 146-149

Abstract: The input image of the original frame in the video for detecting and tracking vehicles may suffer from uneven illumination, low contrast, shadow effects, sensor noise and weather induced degradation. These issues reduce object visibility and negatively affect subsequent detection and tracking algorithms. Therefore the environmental preprocessing is done to improve the quality of video frames before vehicle detection and tracking. This minimizes the effects of illumination variations, noise, shadows, low visibility, and environmental disturbances, thereby improving the robustness of the subsequent detection and tracking modules.
