Abstract: The stability constants of 1:1 binary complexes of Mn2+, VO2+, Co2+ and Zn2+ with hippuric acid and ternary complexes of said metal ions with all cis-1,2,3,4-cyclopentanetetracarboxylic acid (CPTA) as a primary ligand and hippuric acid as a secondary ligand were investigated potentiometrically in aqueous solution at 300C, 400C and 500C (+10C) temperature and at constant ionic strength =0.2 mol L-1 (KNO3). The stability constants of ternary complexes follow the order, VO2+ > Co2+ > Zn2+ > Mn2+. SThe thermodynamic parameters like free energy ( G0), enthalpy ( H0) and entropy ( S0) have also been calculated using the standard thermodynamic equations. The results showed that coordination process is spontanous and exothermic.
