Abstract:
The forest complex is an important sector in the economy of subjects of the Russian Federation comprising the southern part of the Russian Far East (RFE), it has a subsidiary function in the economy of its northern part. In mountain - taiga areas of the southern RFE the forest complex also plays an important social role. Quantitative estimations of the forest sector's contribution to the welfare of local population have been given based on official data, including illegal logging
