Abstract: The review of the monograph by V.N. Lazhentzev «Content, System Organization and Planning of Territorial Development» analyzes the author’s basic concepts of territorial development. The emphasis is on the author’s observation of the processes of territorial development; practice, theory and methodology; territorial-economic systems; and planning of territorial development. The article analyzes the author’s views on issues of spatial development of Russia. Special attention is paid to the problems of Northern regions development.
