Abstract: This paper examines the corporate restructuring in the banking industry of Thailand. The Siam Commercial Bank (SCB) was taken as an in- depth case study in this research. This bank can be considered as a very long established instit ution which never changed its corporate culture over 95 years. The Asian Financial crisis in 1997 has led to a major overhaul of the Bank. This paper aims to investigate and compare SCB business and organization al efficiency before and after corporate restructuring. In this study, a quantitative approach is taken. The data were collected through a questionnaire survey. About 291 SCB middle managers participated in the survey. The data obtained were an alyzed on the differences between before and after the SCB restructuring using the Wilcoxon Signed- Rank Test. The corporate restructuring has significantly improved and supported the SCB strategic changes and its performance during the difficult economic fluctuation and fierce competition. The corporate restructuring has led to a higher level of efficiency in business and organization .
