On the record: immigrant legalization offers range of economic gains, some fiscal costs

Abstract: Pia Orrenius is a vice president and senior economist at the Federal Reserve Bank of Dallas. She has written extensively on the economic effects of immigration and coauthored the book Beside the Golden Door: U.S. Immigration Reform in a New Era of Globalization. She discusses the Obama administration?s recently announced plans to legalize the status of several million unauthorized immigrants.
