Abstract: The lack of interest that the Piteşti mass-media executives show the on-line press is obvious and is mirrored in today’s offer of local on-line press. The fact that mass-media’s indifference to on-line journalism is so clear is worrisome, driving away the potential Internet users that are interested in local news. Even if on-line versions of local publications are available, their quality is low, they don’t even follow the basic principles of on-line journalism on web-design. They don’t come up with anything interesting and don’t offer the user fresh and accurate information. Elements that give an information site, a true on-line newspaper edition, its personality, are usually forgotten. The content isn’t flexible enough to fit the needs of the individual user, there are no multimedia elements (images, music, voice, animation), no internal search engines and no databases. There is almost no interactivity, the user can notice the lack of any option whatsoever (click, search&find, Buy&sell, handling, building, game, discussions). The user is also stripped of the possibility of communicating his needs, his wishes, his opinions or perceptions to the site’s owners.
