Abstract: This presentation is focused on the relationships between religion and media in nowadays public space in Romania. Our perspective is built starting from inside the Church and analyzing the dialectic of the sacred and of the profane from an orthodox Christian point of view. The development of the religious media in the Romanian Orthodox Church is motivated spiritual, historical, cultural, and social. Media is working inside the Church and the Church is subject for the secular media. We cannot separate totally media and religion, because they are interacting in the agora of modernity, following the paradoxically dialectic of the sacred and the profane described by Mircea Eliade. Our conclusion is that the interaction between the religious media and secular media is necessary and can be beneficial for both, in the context of the dynamic dialogue between Church and Society.
