Abstract: How does the mainstream media cover the Italian Catholic Church? Which are the main topics that the Church discusses and the media covers? In terms of Church representatives, who are the main actors covered by bulletins news and the press? How does social media influence this coverage? These are the main questions of this paper. Historically, the relationship between the Catholic Church and the media enjoys a long tradition, with the Catholic press significantly diffused throughout Italy. However, today the media environment is more complex and the debate about the relationship between the Church and the media is alive and well, making traditional means no longer enough to evangelize and to intervene in the public debate.
