Abstract:
In the present contribution , the concept development of competence and capability-related research from its beginnings in the 1950s to the most recent contributions of the 1990s will be illustrated. Common themes in the different approaches will be highlighted and their idiosyncratic perspectives will be synthesized by positioning them in the context of the a comprehensive framework.
