The Chronology and Geography of Intra-Industry Trade in This Our century

A. Borsu and H. Glejser

Working Papers from Notre-Dame de la Paix, Sciences Economiques et Sociales

Abstract: Measurements and theories of intra-industry specialization in international trade have been developed over the last 35 years or so, yet some important features of the phenomenon still remain unexplored. Strangely enough they resemble those which baffle astronomers studing our universe: When did it start ? What was there before? What factor(s) contribute to its expansion. We shall try to contribute to the exploration by analyzing the structure of export and import of goods since the beginning of the century for ten of the most industrializad countries.
