Norway and Global Food Supplies: Basic Facts and Sustainable Policy Options

Abstract: Part I summarises some basic facts regarding Norway's food production and consumption, the country's economic policy related to agriculture, food, the environment and trade. Part II focuses on Norway's contribution towards the goal of supplying food to a global population of some 6-8 billions a few decades from today. Our main point as to Norway's options for a sustainable policy is as follows. The country should contribute positively in the global food equation through a sustainable management of the fish resources.
