Abstract:
In 1997, the Institute for Economic Problems of the Transition Period plans to publish a monograph that will attempt to trace the evolution of the Russian economy over the five years of reform. The work is expected to provide a systematic analysis of the changes taking place across all sectors and industries of the economy, driven by the political and institutional transformations of this period. This collection of papers presents the initial findings and first attempts, as part of this work, to highlight the practical achievements and challenges of the transition from a socialist economy to a market-based system.
