Abstract: Pro-environmental behaviors have been confirmed as an essential source of sustainable development. However, there is limited research exploring its antecedents from the perspective of organizational management mechanisms (e.g., environmental leadership). This article draws on upper-echelon and self-consistency theories to explain why environmental leadership induces environmental corporate social responsibility policy adoption, which causes employees’ environmental behavior. In addition, the relationship is mediated by environmental identity. This article collected empirical data from 101 technology firm employees, and the results support all hypotheses. Finally, this article addresses a new research stream of leadership concerning pro-environmental behaviors. It demonstrates a novel pathway to promote pro-environmental behaviors through adopting environmental corporate social responsibility policies, which guides a new research direction in terms of environmental organization behaviors.
