Abstract:
The evolution of government intervention in social issues developed in three stages: the first one was concentrated on poverty; the second one on poverty and more generally on welfare issues; finally on the previous ones and the maximization of individual freedom. The idea of a guaranteed income marked with different versions all of these stages. Recently the idea of an universal unconditional income gained renewed interest for the reduction of the share of gnp imputed to labour and the AI revolution with the fear that such a reduction will be structural in the future.
