Journal of Current Chinese Affairs - China aktuell, 2006, vol. 35, issue 2, 60-88
Abstract:
The article analyses the regional system of innovation in Shanghai by focussing on the input and output factors which define the innovation capacity. Foreign companies’ investment in R&D plays a key role in the development of Shanghai’s industry, especially high-tech industry. In order to increase spillover effects associated with the transfer of foreign capital and technology, domestic companies in Shanghai have to increase their own absorptive capabilities.
