Abstract: Socialisation ou essentialisation du talent, cette opposition agite toujours les discussions entre ceux qui veulent comprendre la création artistique, artistes, critiques et chercheurs. Cet article propose une réflexion méthodologique sur l'utilisation d'outils indiciels pour mesurer la réputation, appliquée au cas des poètes contemporains. Puisque la réputation des poètes s'organise dans une chronologie ici mise en évidence, deux indices sont construits pour évaluer d'abord la reconnaissance, soit l'estime dont un créateur jouit au sein du monde social où il créé, puis la renommée par où il atteint un plus large public avec la consécration. Cette méthodologie aboutit à caractériser le monde de la poésie dans sa diversité et porte au jour la puissance des conventions tant ses orientations esthétiques sont décisives pour la consécration d'un poète. histoire culturelle. Is talent a gift, or the result of a socialization process? This contradiction always shakes up the discussions among those who want to understand artistic creation: artists, critics and scholars. This article proposes a methodological reflection on the use of indexes to measure reputation, applied to the case of contemporary poets. As the reputation of poets is organized into a chronology, as is shown in this work, two indexes have been compiled. One serves to evaluate recognition — i.e. the respect which a poet enjoys within the social world where he creates— the other one to assess the renown through which he reaches a wider public when his work is celebrated. This methodology culminates by characterizing the world of poetry in all its diversity. It shed light on the power of conventions in that these aesthetic orientations become decisive for the poet's consecration.
