Abstract: This research analyzes pre-appropriation phase of a management tool introduction process referred to as "benchmarking" in a health care facility, from a participant-observation method. The research first presents a chronological analysis of the pre-appropriation stages, followed by an analysis by stakeholder. The dominant perspective of the pre-appropriation is socio-political, yet other dimensions are also identified. This research helps to better understand the phase of pre-appropriation, which has yet to be studied in greater depth.
