Abstract: La société de l'information est particulièrement développée dans l'Europe du Nord, l'Amérique du Nord ainsi que dans certains pays d'Asie, comme la Corée ou le Japon. Le génie de l'Internet, ou plus précisément de ce que l'on appelle en français la toile, semble toutefois venir principalement d'un pays, les Etats-Unis, d'où proviennent l'essentiel des inventions, ou tout au moins leur industrialisation. Les premiers sites mondiaux, Google, Facebook, YouTube, Yahoo!, Wikipedia, Twitter, Amazon sont tous américains. Les européens, comme les autres pays de la planète se sont accommodés de cette dépendance à l'industrie américaine. Un pays fait toutefois exception à ce tableau, la Chine.
