Abstract:
In France, both the poultry producers and the industry stakeholders raise questions about how contracts perform in the poultry meat sector. Since the beginning of the 2000s, the sector has been facing a loss in competitiveness and some stakeholders put in doubt the economic efficiency of both the French sector organization and the contracts between producers and their partners. The poultry contracts and the way they fulfill their various objectives is examined. The diversity of the contracts illustrates the variety of the organizational schemes, and the complexity of the stakeholders relationships. However, the study emphasizes how important the quality of the coordination scheme is for the competitiveness of the poultry sector. A second study, carried out in 2013 in five European countries, completes the French overview
