Abstract:
This article exposes some controversial issues to be found within the management control academic community, in order to show an existing crisis faced by this community. These critical issues are then organized thematically to check the possibility for ergonomics to contribute to the epistemic renewal of management control. The purpose for ergonomics in such a perspective would be to move from a systematic opposition towards controlling to a more supporting attitude. This communication tries then to propose some examples of research avenues to enrich management control through ergonomics. Specifically this article discusses the potentiality for an ergonomical management control to better understand practices and issues such as organizational health, and managers' performance itself.
