Abstract: Considered as an opportunity for local development, the rural heritage is nowadays the object of socio-cultural and economic speculations. Yet the enhancement of the economic value of the identity goods associated with it is not always met with unanimous approval. It is the aim of this contribution to understand the reasons behind these opposite spatial dynamics. For this purpose we concentrate on the socio-cultural, organisational and spatial processes that are characteristic of two local areas that present opposite development dynamics.
