Abstract:
Late effects are frequently observed in long-term childhood cancer ă survivors. The establishment of large, well-structured, and organized ă cohorts has played a major role for improving both patients' care and ă our knowledge on this subject. The purpose of this text is to describe ă the structuration of the LEA program, the French multicentric program ă for long-term follow-up of childhood leukemia survivors. This program is ă based on the establishment of a prospective cohort in 15 French oncology ă centers. We describe here the cohort structuration, provide examples of ă its scientific production, and discuss some lessons from a 10-year ă functioning.
