Abstract: This paper aims to study the role of Thajmaεth in the development of rural areas in Kabylie. In this way we consider that, it is necessary to carry out a preliminary analysis of the transformations that this form of village administration met under the effect of colonization, political issues and institutional measures. Then we will tackle the Thiwiz, as lever of solidary development. Finally, we will take an interest in the relationships that Thajmaεth has with the local authorities and the so-called modern associations.
