Teaching Management to future Industrial Engineers: A practical approach from the beginning to the end

Abstract: This paper accounts for an integral academic experience that, by means of an action-research approach, was effectively carried out over a sample of 344 participants, distributed in 12 different groups belonging to the bachelor degree program of Industrial Engineering at a Colombian university. To this end, a set of pedagogical practices, based mainly on study cases supported by ICT tools were implemented. In this study, we include a summary of each case constructed. Also, it is described the assessment process. Outcomes indicate that according to students' perception, there is a clear superiority of these initiatives over traditional teaching processes based on conventional lectures, even after 6 months of the experience. Besides socializing, this work contributes by encourage the transferring of this knowledge into some other contexts in favor to propose further approaches, and help the creation of better educational processes for future professionals in industrial engineering, as well as other professions
