Abstract: Voted on September 5, 2018, the law "For the freedom to choose one's professional future" is gradually coming into effect. After a 2019 year of transition, this global reform of the lifelong learning market (FTLV) will deeply modify several components of the French continuing education system. In particular, to encourage young people to turn to apprenticeships, the Government has chosen to reform this professional path which already concerned 437,000 apprentices at the end of 2018. What are the notable changes of this reform which came into force on January 1, 2019? By allowing companies to set up apprenticeship training centers (CFAs), the government is offering them the opportunity to train in the trades for which they are currently struggling to recruit. Several large companies are already interested in this new possibility of creating their own CFA, a way for them to reclaim the initial training they need. Because a characteristic of the reform is to remove several administrative, time and funding constraints. The system therefore seems simpler and reassuring for businesses. However, cultural changes cannot be decreed and at the time of writing, questions still persist about the conception that the different actors involved have of what learning should be.
