Abstract:
Military spending is often analysed as unproductive spending, a social burden. This is to forget that they are supposed to provide security to the citizens of a country. Is this a waste, an industrial windfall, the consequence of a system that is just enough not to promote war threats. Any disarmament presupposes procedures that must be followed; otherwise the peace itself may be called into question. Several researchers are reflecting on the economics of peace, in particular UNIDIR, ECAAR or, in France, CEDSI in Grenoble.
