Abstract: Under the Consulate, Jean-Baptiste Say sat on the Tribunat for several years. Attached to the Finance section, he was primarily responsible for economic questions. As a Tribune, he wrote several reports, notably concerning the proposal for a law regarding the reminting of coins. The article presents his actions as a Tribune when he first saw Bonaparte as a fitting leader capable of reorganizing the country and later, when he distanced himself from the selfsame.
