Abstract: Fisheries and sea-farming policy in france. Budgetary expenditures In 1996, national and EU budgetary expenditures to french fisheries and sea-farming reach 450 millions francs, in the form of direct subsidies to the branch or market support. More than 50 p.c. of this amount is devoted to the restructuring policy, wich supports modernization under the constraint of global fishing capacity reduction, in order to preserve the ressource. Market support expenditures have increased during the crisis of the sector, but reach only 15 p.c. of total amount (instead of 80 p.c. in agricultural sector). The fisheries and sea-farming budgetary support in proportion to output value or labour unit is below average level noted in agriculture.
