Abstract:
This article is about the creation of meaning at work through one of its main components, namely nonmonetary recognition. Deep and rapid changes in socio-economic functioning in recent years have modified the job roles of employees. Sometimes they lose their sense of their activities' meaning and thus their motivation and performance, questioning the organization's output. One of the challenges of management today is to give back meaning to employees. Based on a field study, this article proposes to study the system of recognition in a hospital environment and to use it to deduce a managerial approach that is adaptable to other sectors. This managerial model enables us to consider the meaning of work as a process, and therefore to suggest the design of a theoretical model.
