Abstract:
This article shows the connection between the common good and food sovereignity for the wayuu people, centering on a description of their political and spiritual organization and its impact on territorial use and management. It describes the access to basic resources, and it reveals negotiations as an additional food security solution. Moreover, it depicts certain issues that have surfaced as a result of the penetration of other economic systems that have found their way into the ancestral territory, ultimately engulfing the wayuu people into a humanitarian crisis by limiting their cultural practices for the access and distribution of food.
